RESPOND is a community of buyers and sellers committed to providing quality service. Since 1999, over 2.5 million consumers have used RESPOND to find everything from catering to cosmetic surgery. Today, RESPOND covers more than 100 types of purchases, where consumers are matched to quality merchants who respond to their requests for information.
As active members of the RESPOND community, consumers access tools to make better informed decisions. For example, members can find local merchants and benefit by reading about the community’s experiences with these merchants. Members use Community tested procedures that define consumer requirements and automate the task of contacting selected merchants. In addition, RESPOND offers relevant content and articles across a breadth of products and services to further inform the purchasing decision.
Quality merchants have agreed to a RESPOND Code of Conduct. This requires merchants to provide timely and professional responses to member requests and provide outstanding service to RESPOND members. At the same time RESPOND asks consumers to be straightforward about their buying intentions by responding to merchant communications in a timely manner. The RESPOND community works because each party respects the time and expertise of the other members.
Spread the Word About Quality Service
My name is George Pickering and I co-founded RESPOND because I wanted an easy way to locate quality local merchants. It started when I moved into a new community and needed to find a good, local, quality pest control company. So I did what most of us do; I asked my friends and neighbors. It took about a week to identify someone I wanted to use and another week to get them lined up. There had to be a better way. That’s when I came up with the idea of combining the power of asking people you know with the efficiency and scope of the internet.
Using RESPOND, I can now search for local businesses recommended by other members. I then read the detailed reviews of these businesses written by RESPOND members. When I’m ready, I can even request more information, knowing that I will receive a professional and timely response.
RESPOND works because each member of the community – consumers, merchants, even RESPOND – have agreed to a Code of Conduct. This Code enables RESPOND to be a vibrant community of active members, determined to make the consumer experience as open, easy, informative and efficient as possible.

The RESPOND Community works because our members agree to our Code of Conduct. At its most basic level, the Code of Conduct requires all members to respect the time and expertise of others. Merchants, consumers, even RESPOND have responsibilities that are clearly stated and understood.

We commit to respecting each merchant’s time and expertise by being straightforward about our buying intentions and responding in a timely manner to legitimate communications from RESPOND merchants.

RESPOND
To ensure that RESPOND remains a positive experience for all members, we commit to removing any merchant that repeatedly violates the merchant Code of Conduct.
